Perched on the Kenyan Coast at approximately 120kms North of Mombasa, the small town of Watamu offers typical seaside merriment with its pristine white sandy beaches and lush tropical forest. In Watamu there are plenty of aquatic sports and marine activities, excellent eating and world-class accommodation facilities to choose from. A visit to a marine park for underwater experience is one of the top activities to do while in Watamu.

Water Skiing, Wind Surfing…

Water skiing, wind surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling as well as deep sea fishing are some of the aquatic sport activities in Watamu. You can also choose to visit the nearby Gede ruins, a mysterious 12th century town in the middle of nowhere which was abandoned for unknown reasons. Gede ruins is now a historic monument which holds the remains of mosques, houses, tombs, King’s palace, sunken court and other interesting archaeological artefacts.

Arabuko Sokoke, Bio-Ken Snake Farm…

You have the chance to visit Arabuko Sokoke Forest Reserve for birdwatching. Bio-Ken Snake Farm which is an important snake research centre. There is also the mangrove-fringed waterways of Mida Creek best explored on a boat. The creek is also a suitable kayaking destination.
