Wasini Island Tour y Excursiones

The colourful villages and traditional makuti thatched houses along the way belong to the digo people, one of the more than 42 tribes in Kenya and among the nine coastal communities famously known as the Mijikenda concentrated on the southern coastal strip of Kenya between Mombasa and the Tanzanian border.

En el pueblo de Shimoni

An hour drive from Diani brings us to Shimoni, a small fishing village near the Tanzanian border. Shimoni is famous for its majestic coral caves which unfortunately were used during the slavery days as waiting chambers for slaves before they were piled and shipped to foreign countries. Shimoni village is a living testimony of the dark days of slavery on the East African Coast.

Kisite Mpungut Marine Park

It’s time to get on board a traditional Arabic dhow and smoothly sail to Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park for dolphins, excellent diving and snorkelling activities. On your right as you set sail is the Wasini Island where we will have an excellent and sumptuous Swahili style seafood lunch at the Island’s Restaurant. Relax after lunch and later take a walk on the Wasini Island, learn about the culture of the Swahili people and the history of the Arabs. Sail back arriving in Shimoni village at around 4.00 pm for the drive back for your hotel drop off.
